I am determined to always put active-duty, veterans, dependents, and their families first.
My father served in the United States Army when I was first born. He served as an 88M (motor transport) and did two deployments, one to eastern Europe and one to Central/South America. He missed my first birthday to serve our country. After coming back and going inactive, he was injured as a civilian employment. Even though disabled, he wanted to still serve as a recruiter but was unable due to the injury he sustained. But, he hated the term veteran. He would always say “I’m not a veteran, I didn’t see combat”, and he was that way until he passed away in 2015.
The military doesn’t pay as much as most think. And it surely doesn’t justify the sacrifices the family makes for their loved one to serve our country. We can never forget that, and we must protect your rights while you’re protecting ours from both foreign and domestic threats.
As your congressman, I will never sign anything that I feel could negatively impact any active-duty or veteran family.
